A sprint workout is an amazing way to get in a high intensity workout in a short period of time. Depending on what your goals are you can do between 3 and 15 sprints in a ride. Normally most rides that focus on sprinting won’t go much over 2 1/2 hours but you will feel fairly tired that evening or the next day from your efforts. You will usually want to get in 5-10 minutes rest between efforts depending on fitness level and time constraints.
Having a good finishing sprint is very important to any racer or club ride enthusiast that wants the best result every time the get out and compete. If you don’t have that finishing speed it will be very difficult to get a win in either a bunch finish or even a breakaway. Just getting in a couple of sprint workouts will assure you a better result in your up and coming rides and races.
